LOOK BOTH WAYS

Unprotected Crossing means enter at own risk.  It may or may not be dangerous. And this crossing has an added challenge posed by a Threshold Guardian.  The conversion from sinner to saint can be symbolized by a leopard that changes it's spots for a coat of uniform colour.  But if it changes it's spots and becomes a cougar – what then?

SNAKES AND LADDERS

Snakes and Ladders is a classic childhood game but it is also a battle of good and evil.  As one negotiates childhood one’s life is complicated by virtues (ladders) and vices (snakes).  Each slither into evil is a learning experience.  Whether one succeeds on reaching adulthood intact or not depends not on the experiences but on whether one learns from them.
