Childhood is a time to explore fantasy worlds and develop imagination.  A time to battle dragons and mythical beings; a time to enjoy your ‘wildhood’.  With the sword of knowledge and shield of wisdom she is well protected to go forth into the world and experience life.

FISHING

In the courtship dance we use many different kinds of bait depending on age and circumstance.  It is a game as old as time.  Sometimes it works, sometime it doesn’t.  But no matter how many times we hit our head on the side of the bowl we continue the dance.  Why?  Because it is fun and there is always the miniscule chance of victory!

IT'S JUST A MEMORY NOW

As we age we rein in our expectations of what is possible.  We no longer expect to be an Olympic competitor but Champion of Boules is a realistic goal.  However, even as our physical prowess declines, our internal reality (mental and spiritual) can continue to soar.  When Matisse was old and bedridden he continued to do his cutouts of dancing women – a lovely joyous celebration of life.

THE HERO MYTH

The Hero has a thousand faces and the myth can be adapted to any circumstance, any narrative.  We are all heroes in our own narrative guided by archetypal companions.  As we negotiate the journey of life it is important to have the proper guides.  The goat represents agility and determination both very necessary on the journey.  However, he is also associated with lust and fertility which are often recipes for disaster.  Ultimately we make our own choices so choose wisely.

YOUR POINT!

The Lion is the ultimate personification of male energy.  The King of the Beasts exuding virility and animal passion, a symbol of lust and procreation.  Unfortunately that ship has sailed.

PANDORA'S EGGS

The Universe had other plans for me in the fall and I was unable to work on the Hero's Journey. However, I am happy to say I am back and eager to share my new work. 

Eggs are a sealed vessel filled with divine gifts – life and hope. Prayer flags are replaced by new ones as they fade, symbolic of the continual renewal of life.  Frogs are a reminder of the cycle of life, of birth, of death and of rebirth.  The Halcyon Days of youth are truly a time of creation and transformation.
